December in Dubai - Suzy's Site Inspection 2006

This is my first flight on award winning Emirates Airlines the world's fastest growing fleet, which now flies 55 countries. Very impressive, with in-seat massage system, a sandwich on a request from the galley and the twinkling stars that sparkle on the ceiling when the lights are dimmed. EC won the best stroller Entertainment Award. They can choose from 600 movies, 6000 songs and audio books, 40 games, check email and view the new "Pilots cameras," where off and landing as seen from a camera mounted underneath the aircraft nose. Coach class can not get any better than this!

There are seven emirates in the Arabian Gulf, which is sandwiched between Iran, Qatar, Saudi Rand Oman. What is the Emirates? UK government sheik. Dubai has become a sheikdom in 1833, but the nomadic tribes settled here 3,000 years ago. They are survivors from the sea in this arid land. Once upon a time, and the rich, but hidden kingdom decided to become the world's premier tourist destination. It has spread at an alarming rate by adding 500 miles of new waterfront with countless man-made islands. Now called "Las Vegas of the Middle East," with its sun, sand, sea, snow and sex. He also referred to as the "St. Tropez bay" or "Monaco of the Desert" because it is so ultra-chic.

Here, tolerance and hospitality are highly valued virtues. Dubai is a pocket of freedom in Arabia, as well as Hong Kong is in China. I bit the dichotomy of Islamic culture in the region west of wealth, a total blend of the East meets West. I though modestly packed for the trip with my "covered elbow to elbow" rule. But at night, there is a plethora of clubs where anything goes. Dubai population is 1.3 million. Only 12% are nationals can own property here. All others are foreigners. I witnessed a zero poverty and was told that Sheikh Al Maktoun everything is fine with free social services. It is pure and true crime free with the sun throughout the year.

I have a program on my "vacation". I flew with my group of Uganda as far as Dubai. They continue on from here to Entebbe for gorilla trekking. I also agree with direct control over the suppliers of the Ministry of Tourism. At the airport arrival, I was greeted by a sign with my name for a driver. He was transferred to the deluxe Grand Hyatt, an oasis of peace. There was a skating rink on the right side of the lobby. All rooms have bay views. Mine overlooked "Palms", a spectacular miracle transferred to artificial islands that are filled with priceless residences. It is near "The World" with 300 manmade islands where you can buy "land". Plans and no plans, my favorite way to travel is to let the wind blows wherever we can.

my private tour of the city revealed shimmering futuristic skyline. There are no events here extravagant creations that make Vegas dull in comparison. It seems that every crane in the world is here now. Some hotels are simply indescribable. Grand boulevards are lined with palmama.Novi city of Bur Dubai's most prestigious mile on earth now. In contrast, there is the old Deira area with historic architecture in the old wind towers, fortresses, royal palaces and mosques everywhere.

My dream is to visit the Burj Al Arab, inarguably the most amazing hotel structure on Earth. This masterpiece is a huge billowing sail and put on your island. This rate of "7 stars" with the staff to guest ratio of 5 - 1 Room rates start at $ 950 per night and are booked full until 2007. Tourists can not see $ 50 ulaznice.Jedina chance to enter it at lunch ($ 160), afternoon tea ($ 85) or dinner (if you have questions, you can not afford it.) I decided to break my budget for any option, but My goalkeeper was able to secure my reservation on any day. Mind you I'm just here for 97 hours! So I headed to Jumerirah Beach, instead of using my time well.

The next day I woke up to rain, an extremely rare occurrence here. The locals opened the windows and dancing in the streets. All the traffic jams. My invitation to the Royal Stables has been canceled. Purebred Arabian horse are the most respected and Dubai Cup is the richest race in the world.

On my third day, an exciting desert safari was arranged. I headed out of town in a caravan of 12 jeeps. First stop was a place where we rode ATV's, feed the baby camels and saw a demonstration of falconry. We then headed deep into the desert Dune Bashing hour. I got the best / worst driver 4x4 Wajed names. He drove maniacally up and over the steepest dunes like a drunken sailor on pučini.Najstrašnija part of the "sliding" vertically down the mountain of sand. We almost tipped twice. As I screamed, Wajed chatted on his cell phone with a friend. We stopped to see a beautiful sunset over the multi-hued desert-scapes. Then he went to an oasis with Oryx and camels. We enetered tented camp for some real Bedouin kulture.Safari Price includes sand-skiing, sand boarding, henna tattoos, camel rides and smoking "hubbly bubbly pipes." I refused to shake tobacco and dressed as a veiled Arab žena.BBQ buffet is served under the stars as a belly dancer. It is all a story of "A Thousand and One Nights ."

My last day was spent sightseeing. For his farewell dinner, I booked a dhow cruise. These traditional wooden boats have plied the bay waters for centuries of trading. From Dubai Creek, they still export goods to Africa and Indiji.Glazba and seafood was excellent with a backdrop of shimmering lighted skyline, far too romantic to do this yourself. I felt isolated among a group of drunk Russians.
