There is only a problem with hitting a bunker shot fat. You usually have to hit the second bunker shot or two before you leave. I have a favorite saying and it goes like this: "get out safely on the green-anywhere this year, next year we'll work on getting it close, and next year we can work on them holing out ."
I know you do not want to hear this, but hitting your bunker shots fat is much better to error on its own than hitting them thin. Now the move so you can figure out how to get out safely. First of all, you must have a sand wedge. For those of you who hit the fat bunker shots with a pitching wedge, you will not believe how much easier to use a sand wedge.
When you walk into a bunker, you have to analyze the sand. If it is hard and packed, the ball will go faster and easier than if it is soft. Those of you who hit his bunker shots fat probably is not struggling with packed sand. If sand is soft, you have to do two things, so you do not hit it fat.
Number one is to make sure you open the face slightly at address. When you open the face added bounce. When you add a bounce clubhead will get stuck in the sand. Another thing you have to do is make sure swinging after stroke. shot is no longer in effect, you must continue to turn to the left hip out of the way and keep the clubhead moving.
with an open clubface at address and a healthy follow through will create an impact that will pick the ball out of the sand and onto the green. When you finish your swing with your belt buckle should be pointing to the target and your right heel should point in the sky.
Golfingly yours,
